In this version of our newsletter, we will focus on the new salary level requirement for work permits, Ukrainian citizens status in Sweden, upcoming changes to family immigration, and more.

Median Salary from June 18, 2024

The National Mediation Office has released the updated salary statistics today. The median salary has increased and is as of today 35 600 SEK. This means that the required minimum salary for a work permit is now increased to 28 480 SEK. This level refers to the maintenance requirement for the principal applicant.    Questions on how this may affect your employees’ pending work permit applications? Temporary Protective Directive for Ukrainian Citizens Extended

The EU has extended the temporary protective directive until March 4th, 2026. Due to this extension, the Tax Agency are now registering Ukrainian citizens who fulfill the requirements in the population registry – which means they can get a personal number among other things.    Read more here: https://lnkd.in/d6j9qNEa

Government Investigation Family Immigration

At a press conference on July 9th, the government announced plans to appoint a special investigator to review and tighten the regulations for family immigration. The investigator will examine various factors, including tightening the maintenance requirements and defining who qualifies as a family member.

The findings of this investigation are to be reported by August 25, 2025. We will keep you updated as we hear more.
